You may as well get your terminology straight. “Redlining” was the practice of applying more stringent conditions for getting a loan when you lived in a poorer urban neighborhood than when you lived in a more affluent suburban one. The CRA was designed to stop redlining by mandating that depository banks offer loans (to qualified borrowers) in the same neighborhoods where they take deposits.

The roots of this economic crisis go back to the Clinton administration (CRA) , the radical group ACORN, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) demanding that financial institutions make mortgages available, by any means necessary, to people that can’t afford them.

Even then, it might only win a few Congressional districts, and take years to become a viable third party.
